On Saturday, September 23, Wesley will host a Community Resource Fair from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the James S. Gadsden Building at 1725 Gervais Street. Valuable information will be provided that is relevant to everyone, but it will also be a time to enjoy much fun, fellowship and food. On Sunday, September 24, at 9:00 a.m., a dynamic worship service is planned at Main Street United Methodist Church, located at 1830 Main Street.
Please join us for our Homecoming celebration and learn more about The Dream on which our theme is based. Following the historic flooding in the Fall of 2015, Wesley’s sanctuary suffered damage to its ceiling. Since that time and by God’s continued providence, we have met regularly at Main Street United Methodist Church. As the extent of damage and repairs needed for our sanctuary became clear, Wesley entered a period of prayer and discernment about God’s calling for our congregation. During this time, God led us to The Dream of continuing to grow our ministries and the work of making disciples of Jesus Christ through substantially renovated and expanded facilities at our location on Gervais Street.
Our 2017 Homecoming celebration will mark the start of the return to our home sanctuary for Homecoming 2018 and the completion of the first phase of The Dream, which will include replacing the sanctuary’s ceiling, repairing the roof, addressing other water infiltration issues and adding a handicap accessible restroom on the main level.
I look forward to seeing you for Homecoming 2017 and, again, for our Homecoming 2018 worship service at 1725 Gervais Street. With faith, we are making The Dream a reality!
